By host country

Unit: host country. Home means the fighter’s nationality is the host country’s. Finish rate in bouts with exactly one home fighter, against bouts with none.

“One home fighter” and “neither home” are bout counts; each is followed by the share of those bouts that ended inside the distance. “None” means there was no such bout to take a rate over. Scroll sideways on a phone.

US states

Unit: US state of the event. Home means the fighter’s hometown state on UFCStats, which is listed for only a minority of fighters, so the count of bouts with one home-state fighter is tiny. Nevada here is every Nevada event, the UFC Apex and other venues together. Finish rate only. Not comparable with the home-state page, which uses Sherdog residence locality, a different set of fighters, and shows win rates.

Coverage. A nationality is recorded for the first-listed fighter in 99% of fights, and a hometown state in 19%.
What counts. A home-country fighter holds the host country’s nationality (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland count as the United Kingdom). A home-city fighter’s listed hometown is the event city, ignoring accents. Bouts with exactly one home fighter are compared with bouts where neither fighter is home. Every country and city is listed with its count; small counts are shown and nothing is dropped. Las Vegas is split into the UFC Apex and other venues. State understates. A hometown state is recorded for only a minority of fighters, so the state table undercounts home fighters. A different source. Home on this page comes from the UFCStats fighter records (nationality and hometown). The home-country page and the home-state page use Sherdog, so the same label can cover different bouts. No win rates on this page, on purpose. Who won is on the home-country page (by host country) and the home-state page (US states and cities). This page uses a different nationality source and a different set of bouts, so its counts differ (at US events, 2,605 bouts with one home fighter here, 2,293 on the home-country page), and win rates worked out here would disagree with those pages. Finish rate. The share of bouts that did not go to a decision (a KO/TKO, a submission or a doctor stoppage), in bouts with exactly one home fighter against bouts with no home fighter. It is not a win rate. Cities understate too. City matching is exact on the city name. Metro areas are not merged (a Brooklyn hometown does not match a New York City or Newark event), so city home counts are too low. This page overlaps the home-state page; use that page for win rates by state, which is why the state table here shows no win rate. Small samples. Rows with fewer than 30 bouts with exactly one home fighter are greyed and marked small sample; the count is always shown. Venues. Event venue and location were matched on the event date, allowing one day either side only when a single event fits. Dates with two UFC events were left out by name rather than guessed (133 bouts).
